Ann Kemp

Hi my name is Ann Kemp and I’m Rebecca’s mum and this is my story.

After having 3 children within a 4 year period I weighed 59kg. As a busy mother of 3, there was  little time for myself. I always put my family first rather than my health. I used the excuse of “I don’t have any time”.  Over a period of time my 59kg blossomed to a huge 83kg.

Looking back now I guess my life was surrounded by comfortability of a stable relationship, I would eat anything I wanted, didn’t exercise and guess I thought well thats a normal thing to put on weight for middle age people.

When Rebecca decided to become a Personal Trainer she wanted to use me as her first client so she strongly persuaded me to start exercising with her.  I wasn’t truthful to myself when I first started, it would have taken me 6 months to lose 5kg. Though this gave me confidence and reality hit me, more weightloss wasn’t out of my reach after all.  I then started with The Warrior Performance Bootcamps with Rebecca and Luke which really kicked started my big weight-loss journey this then followed onto Warrior Performance Centre in Milton St.  I am now 63kg and have been this weight now for the last 4 months but now my bodyshape is still changing and I’m toning up.  Last week I bought my first size 8 dress, I’m not going to lie, I was excited.  I never thought I could of went from size 16 to size 8.  I use to read about people who did this, I didn’t think I could be one of these people.

Looking back on my photos of 83kg, I can’t believe I allowed myself to get that big and think how I struggled through everyday living with the weight I carried for so long. When I pick up a 20kg dead ball I often think to myself this weight was actually on me.

If I can give a piece of advice – anyone (especially mothers) that think they have no time, it’s really important to find some, as you only have ONE LIFE! This is the best thing I have done for myself and wish I started many years earlier. I understand how hard it is but not only will your health improve but you’ll have more energy to enjoy the children or grandchildren and look and feel good about yourself.  Who said we couldn’t have it all!

I can never thank Rebecca and Luke enough, all I needed was that push and a centre that I could feel comfortable to train in with challenging workouts all set and trainers on the floor to keep pushing. So if you have a loved one that just needs that push start or you need it, I can’t say it enough help them or yourself and get started.  It is possible.  I’m not going to lie it was and is hard work, but worth every bit of sweat and sore muscle.
